Yesterday was pretty amazing for me, I spent the entire day
at the home of one of the greatest musicians alive; FELA.
The home of the legendary Fela Anikolpo ransom-Kuti, also
known is Kalakuta republic is located in the heart of Lagos mainland at no 7,
Gbemisola Street, Allen Avenue Ikeja.
The tour;
The tour which was named #thefelaexperince was organised by
the Dare Experience, the entire tour package cost #6,500 which is pretty
reasonable for all we got.
RECORDS/MUSIC
I’d start of by saying the tour was a very detailed one,
because I certainly left knowing more about Fela than I did before, as a lover
of Fela’s music it only seemed right that the tour began from there.

THE ROOFTOP
The rooftop at kalakuta museum is currently a bar area, and
that was where we had our sip and paint session.
No one understood I was trying to produce a caricature;
At the end of the day it was #6,500 naira well spent, and
honestly wouldn’t mind visiting again
5 Things you probably didn't know about Fela…
1.) He had an unregistered political party called
MOP
2.)He ran an underground newspaper that printed
news the media was too scared to print
3.)Out of his twenty seven wives, only two had
children for him, the rest he had with his first wife, and a nurse that worked
with his elder brother Dr Beko Ransom Kuti.
4.) Fela originally started of playing jazz, but changed
after meeting Ms Susan who insulted him for playing jazz music at a show in the US, and introducing him to books by Malcolm
X which changed is perspective about life and music.
5.) Most of the kalakuta queens came from well to do
families then, one of which was the daughter of the chief of shell, and another
the daughter of a minister.
