Earlier this year I decided to be a more outdoor person and I started off by visiting Olumirin waterfall at Erin Ijesha, on the 22^nd of April which happened to be my birthday. It was not in my plan to write about my trip, but after going through the pictures taken by my travel comrades and I; it just made sense To shared my experience.

EN ROUTE

I and my companions left from Osogbo, which is the capital of Osun state.  Arriving there was pretty simple via public transport, firstly; we took a bus to station road which cost ₦50. We then boarded a bus (which was free), to the Erin Ilesha park, was not so comfortable but thank God it lasted for just a couple minutes.

At the park, we took a vehicle that took us to Erin Ijesha and costs 600 Naira. Sadly the vehicle did not take us to the waterfall and since it is rare to find cabs in the state we each took a bike that cost ₦150.

MY ARRIVAL

The entire trip took about an hour and thirty minutes, the entry fee to Olumirin waterfalls was ₦500.

The first thing we came across was this beautiful fountain; we met a couple of tourists checking it out when we arrived, so we had to wait a bit to take our pictures.

Moving forward; we got to this stairs that led to the beginning of hike to the waterfall. In place were these awesome drummer (bit aged), but they still had it giving us indigenous tunes.

Tip: whenever you visit, be sure to tip the drummers they deserve it.

THE HIKE

We took a really long hike to the waterfall, without a tour guide if I must add.  Along the path we came across a couple of side attractions such as;

After all that walking, the waterfall was such a treat. The cool breeze alone was enough to make me want to stay all day.

THE RETURN

Getting back to Osogbo was not as easy as I thought. Firstly; we had to stand by the road to hitchhike for cars going to Osogbo. We had to deal with a lot of eyes on us because of our appearance; it is not what the natives of the area are used to. Eventually we got a car we hired to take us to our doorstep at Osogbo for ₦2,000.

CONCLUSION

It was a fun trip altogether, I will say this; it is not for the lazy.
